Letting Go of Ego

True enlightenment begins the moment we soften our grip on the ego and open our hearts to a higher wisdom. Now, that’s not to say our egos don’t have their purpose - they can help us to navigate the physical world and navigate our survival, but they can also create separation between who we are and who we’re meant to become.

When we live from the ego, we focus too much on the “What if it goes wrong?” instead of “Imagine if it goes right!”. We struggle to surrender control, to show vulnerability, and view mistakes as profound opportunities for emotional growth. Yet, the soul knows a different way. The soul understands that our true power comes not from control, but from alignment.

Letting go of ego doesn’t mean losing yourself. On the contrary, it involves the return to your authentic essence - the part of you that is trusting, intuitive, and deeply connected to universal energy.

1/ Open Your Heart to Abundance

Motivated by self-preservation, the ego wants to keep us safe but quite often it can work against us. It can stop us from taking risks and fully aligning with our higher selves because the ego speaks in the language of fear:

  • “What if I fail?”

  • “What will others think?”

  • “I am not enough.”

This viewpoint is coming from a place of lack and of fearing the worst. Instead, learn to switch your viewpoint to a place of abundance and limitless possibilities:

  • “I am guided.”

  • “I am supported.”

  • “I am here for a reason.”

When you begin to observe the ego rather than obey it, space is created and in that space, clarity arises. You start making decisions not from fear, but from strength.

2/ Create Inner Alignment

Just as your physical environment influences your well-being, your inner environment shapes your consciousness. When your thoughts, emotions, and intentions are in harmony, energy flows effortlessly.

Ask yourself:

  • Does this thought expand me or contract me?

  • Does this choice come from love or fear?

  • Am I listening to my inner guidance or external noise?

Each loving choice helps to strengthen your connection, and trust, to your inner wisdom.

3/ The Power of Surrender

Surrender is often misunderstood as weakness, but it’s actually an incredibly powerful spiritual act. When you release the need to control every outcome, you invite miracles. Life begins to cooperate with you rather than challenge you.

When you find yourself in a tough situation, perhaps a break-up, money struggles, or even just a disagreement with a friend, think about what it could be trying to teach you. Is there a lesson to be learnt here? Is there a belief you need to let go of, or a situation that you’ve outgrown? How can this make you a better, more caring and patient person in the long-term?

Remember, enlightenment isn’t just reserved for mountaintops or meditation cushions. It is found in everyday moments—in how you speak to yourself, how you respond to challenges, and how you treat others.

Diamond Tip: Yellow is the color of sunlight and your intuition is the sunlight trapped within the prison of your ego. Place this color in the Northeast of your living room so that everyone living with you can help tap into their inner wisdom.
