Become a Superhost With Four Easy Feng Shui Tips

Whether you’re throwing an elaborate three-course dinner party or an impromptu after-work cocktails and canapes for your closest friends, being a good host is a true artform. The secret, however, doesn’t lie with perfectly polished silverware or serving a drink chilled to an exact 7°C, but in making each and every guest feel welcome in your home.

To help you on your way to becoming a certified superhost, here are my top Feng Shui tips to ensure your guests get the gold star treatment.

1/ Give Your Entrance a Makeover

To begin with, you want to create as welcoming an environment for your guests as possible, and there’s no better area to focus on than the entranceway! Not only is the entryway where those all-important first impressions take place, but it’s also a very significant space according to Feng Shui, because it represents the ‘mouth of chi’ and is where the fresh energy comes in.

What does this mean? Time to roll up your sleeves and get cleaning! Give this whole area a really good scrub and make sure it’s free from dust, dirt, and any clutter. Wash the windows to make sure there’s lots of natural sunlight and tidy away any coats or shoes into nearby closets. Having them out in the open can send the message that you’re eager for any guests to grab their coat, lace up their shoes, and leave your house as quickly as possible!

A good Feng Shui hack to create a welcoming space is to display a family photo in the entranceway (in this case, just the family members who live in the home) to represent you all coming together as a unifying force to welcome guests into your home.

2/ Open Up Your Living Room

In your living room, you need to make sure there’s enough space for not only those you live with to all sit down comfortably, but your guests, friends, or visiting family members, too. There’s nothing more unwelcoming than visiting a person’s home and having to sit on the floor or stand up the entire time!

Make sure your sofa is clean with well-fluffed cushions. If your sofa is on the small side, set out armchairs or even chairs from your dining room so that everyone gets a space to sit. If you want to attract more people into your home, you have to show the Universe that you care enough to make space for them. People are constantly taking subconscious cues from their environment as to whether they’re welcome there, and having comfortable and readily available seating is the best way to send out that all-important message: ‘Please sit, I want you to feel comfortable in my home.’

3/ The Quantum Diamond Colors

You can use the Diamond Colors to help attract certain things and to set the tone for your home. Peach represents joy, orange represents celebration, and magenta represents harmony. Display objects or images in these colors, such as candles, photo frames, pillows and other soft furnishings, or silk flowers; feel free to be as creative as you like!

4/ Remember the Little Touches

If you have someone visiting you who you know loves a particular type of soft drink, for example, have a bottle of it chilling in the fridge, ready for their arrival. If you have friends or family members who you know have a sweet tooth, or love to snack on something savory, add their favorite snacks to your shopping list before they come so you can have it ready for them. It’s little touches like these that will make your guests feel like they’re being taken care of.
