Four Feng Shui Tips For an Eggs-cellent Easter Weekend

With the tulips freshly blooming and the trees once again abundant in green leaves, springtime is here and with it, the Easter weekend. Whether this time holds deep religious meaning or you love the sight of nature slowly waking up after the long winter nap, Easter is certainly a special time of rebirth and renewal. Here are my Feng Shui tips that will help you to refresh the energy flow of your home and to embrace the arrival of spring.

1/ Bring the Outside In

The wood element, representing longevity and growth, is particularly powerful this time of year so this is the perfect chance to show your houseplants some extra tender loving care. Take a look to see if they need repotting or a soil change or if they’re getting enough sunlight and nutrients. Remember, stick to plants with rounded leaves as the flow of energy can get “stuck” on sharp, spiky leaves.

Freshly cut flowers are another way to activate the wood energy in your home. Faux or silk flowers can work too, just be sure to dust them regularly so they stay as fresh as a daisy!

2/ Refresh the Energy Flow

When was the last time you washed your windows? If you can’t remember back that far, consider this your sign to put it firmly at the top of your to-do list! In Feng Shui, clean windows help the positive energy from the sun’s rays to pass through into your home, boosting the abundant energy flow with it. Once you’ve got your windows sparkling clean, keep them open each morning to let in the fresh springtime air.

If you have a backyard or garden area, take a look to see what needs refreshing. Take care of any weeding that needs doing, plant new flowers, and add any fertilizer or plant food to areas that need the extra help. Dead or dying plants and flowers will do your energy flow no good, so do your best to keep things thriving.

If you’re religious, you can also freshen up the energy flow of your home by washing, dusting, or cleaning any religious images or statues you might have.

3/ Focus On the East

The compass direction best suited for change and renewal is the East, so decorate the East area of your home or family room with Easter decorations such as colorful bunting or freshly cut daffodils and springtime flowers. Long being a key symbol of Easter, the rabbit also represents good luck, fertility, and rebirth in the Chinese Zodiac, so display a statue or image of a rabbit in the East area too. The best colors for Easter according to Diamond Feng Shui are yellow, green, lavender, and rose, so add these colors to the East in the form of candles, flowers, and soft furnishings.

4/ Out With the Old, In With the New

Easter is a time of resurrection and letting go for the old to embrace the new. If you haven’t done so already, this is the perfect time for space clearing (be sure to revisit this article for a primer on how to do so!).
