When it comes to homeschooling, rooms will often serve a multi-purpose function which can sometimes cause a Feng Shui clash! Your child might have their school desk in their bedroom, or use the living room table to study at. This is a potential pit-fall since the merging of different energies (i.e. sleep energy with work energy) may cause energetic disharmony, so here are my top ways to reintroduce balance and academic success.
If your child can see their desk from their bed, it’ll be hard for them to have a peaceful night’s sleep when they have that visual reminder of all the schoolwork they have left to do! To preserve harmony and maintain balance, you can use fold-out screens, room dividers, or curtains to create a division of space and hide away their desk. Similarly, if they use the dining table for their desk, clear it from any non-school related items beforehand and spray some lavender mist to purify the air and improve their focus. Having a storage box solely for your child’s school-related papers, books, and laptop or iPad so that everything can be put away, out of sight, at the end of the school day.
If your child is looking to improve their focus or concentration while they work, position their desk so that they’re faced toward their Wisdom Direction when they’re sitting at it (while ensuring that they’re still sitting in the power position). When they sit facing their Wisdom Direction, they’ll find that their brain is in a far better state to take in and acquire new information in a less stressful or overwhelming way, since the energy flow is more powerful in this area. If your child is prone to distraction or procrastination, this tip is especially useful!
Activating Your Child’s Wisdom Direction
Hang up a pin board in their Wisdom Direction in their bedroom to display their schooling timetable, and any other relevant class materials or brochures
Place a mock-up certificate of whatever exam they’re working toward, along with the grades or awards they wish to get
Place a small bookcase here too to store their school books, reference books and textbooks, and biographies of important authors, researchers, or teachers
